Vireo is a private bird life list and field log. English common names, ticks, sightings, places, field photos, and optional call notes stay on your iPhone unless you export a folio to Photos or buy Quills through the App Store. We do not run a social feed, chat, public hotspot map, or identification camera. Not affiliated with eBird, Cornell Lab, ABA, or BOU.
You may store species ticks, sighting times, place labels, field photos, short call notes, and custom common names. These records are saved in the app sandbox on your device. Deleting a sighting moves it to a 7-day trash shelf, then removes it.
The camera is used when you tap Field Snap on Field. The photo library is used when you choose Import Sighting on Field or Log. The microphone is used only when you tap Call Note. You can refuse any of these and still keep a named sighting. Export Folio writes an image to Photos after you confirm a Quills spend.
Optional Quills packs are sold as consumable in-app purchases through Apple. Apple processes payment. Vireo adds Quills only after a purchase is verified. Packs range from 68 to 9,900 Quills.
After you sign in, iOS may show the system App Tracking Transparency prompt and a notification prompt. Tracking is used only to understand which on-device features you use, such as life list ticks, Field Snap, and Call Notes. Sighting records are never sold or used for ads or social matching. You can decline either prompt.
